Hello from Country WA
« on: December 22, 2009, 07:18:51 am »
Hi

I purchased a thermomix a few months ago and to date my use has been quite limited.  I really wanted make the most of this appliance.

I have two children who have eczema (they react to salyciates (sp?)) I am looking for thermomix beef casseroles that don't have tomatoes/other salyciates or too spicy for young children.  I really want to get away from all those "bad numbers" in foods

I live in country WA

Cheers

West

Hi West

Hope you find lots of inspiration on here.  My sister has similar eczema, reacting to salicilytes - mainly tomatoes, strawberries and citrus.  It's hard to find beef recipes that don't have tomato in them.

Check out this recipe below - it's delicious, and no tomato.  I didn't add the cayenne pepper - we all enjoyed it, including my two toddlers.  Next time I make it I'm going to put some capsicum in it - yum.  It's not really a TMX recipe, but definitely make the white sauce at least.

Hi & welcome to the forum West.  Hope you can get some inspiration for meals here for the problems you have in your household. We are lucky in ours, can eat anything so I feel for those Mums who have children with special needs. What about Chelsea's Swiss Beef or Achookwoman's Chow Mein (use only a little curry powder if you think it may be too spicy) - these are posted in Mains.  Does it have to be beef - what about my Apricot Chicken or Sweet Pork Curry.  I find if you only use a teaspoon of curry powder in recipes, it is quite suitable for children.  Others will come up with some ideas I'm sure.  Good luck.

Welcome from another west aussie :) I posted a additive free apricot chicken recipe in special diets yesterday, and someone pointed out an apricot nectar recipe that you can make yourself in the thermomix (I used Berri brand in the recipe). Were 99% additive free :)
