« on: March 20, 2010, 01:16:08 am »
Hi
i have my second demo tomorrow and am doing hommus so i gave it a test run today, but its so bland and tasteless when you follow the consultant recipe. Does anyone have any tips on how to make it tastier?

Hi Em
I'm not a hommus fan & have never made it but have a look at this thread

The hommus lovers are a minority but this is what Hommus tastes like and those who like hommus like this recipe (well the ones I know anyway) - have you added the salt and pepper? Has the customer requested hommus? Just ask her if she likes it with pepper in it. Other wise the herb and garlic dip is always a crowd pleaser.  :)

I didn't like that hommus either, but I love the one from Cyndi O'Meara's recipe book. It's really tasty!

Seem to recall that we have a Thai-inpired hummus at demos here in Victoria ?  Will see if I can find the recipe.

hi
thanks for the tips, thanks thermomixer that would be great.  i had the demo yesterday, the hommus went down well! i just added some cumin, coriander and little bit of paprika and sprinkled the dukkah over it and everyone liked it.
this was my second demo and i forgot my spatula..........  :(   so the sorbet wasnt the best cause the ice just doesnt move unless you are stirring like crazy, but i managed to make enough for everyone to taste and nobody realised that there were big chunks of ice still in the tm bowl!! i was soooooooooooo annoyed with myself!!

Done it once - hope to never do it again!!! I always make sure I go through that check list at least 10 times before I leave home! LOL  ;)

You almost need a back-up bag of goodies - butterfly, spatula. ...

butterfly you could get away with and not use for the risotto but no spatula would have been a nightmare!! I had a demo today when I pulled out the flip chart someone has been playing with it and there are pages missing and all in the wrong order!! Needless to say I had to wing it and it wasn't the best  :o :o Was too tired after a huge weekend to try and remember it all off the top of my head  8)

The only hommus I like is the Thai (I think it is) with chilli and coriander in it - version is in the EDC
