Fresh Yeast for Perth SOR bread makers
« on: April 12, 2010, 08:15:43 am »
I discovered on Saturday that the Health food shop at Riverton forum has fresh yeast. I haven't used what I bought yet as we had a Model A rally yesterday but I plan to make some rolls this afternoon. It looks quite fresh and they assured me they sell a lot of it. So here's hoping as it's quite close for me.

Thanks for that Cookie1.  I'll be interested to hear how you go as close for us too.  There is also one of those "brew your own beer" places at 176 Bannister Road, Canning Vale which I was going to get around to checking out at some stage.

Kakulas Sisters in Fremantle also have it, haven't bought any so can't vouch for it but it looked fresh and 'yeasty'

Thanks cookie! I'll have to check it out when I'm next in Perth.

Kathryn, I love PantryMan! Sadly, we don't get down to Rockingham or Mandurah these days. Used to spend a lot of time there and Mum lived in Safety Bay,sis in Warnbro and family onsite van at Aqua Park...  I sure do miss the shopping!
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

I tried a couple of Bakers' Delights but they weren't keen. I'm happy now though.

The baker at my local Brumby's will sell me fresh yeast any time. He buys it in kilo blocks and just hacks off a piece for me. About $2-3 for about 250 gms.

Nice guy.
