Declutter with Thermomix!
« on: July 02, 2010, 02:55:58 pm »
I'm almost 26 weeks pregnant with our third child and so preparations have started in earnest. Thanks to Thermomix, some major decluttering has taken place. Have despatched the breadmaker, stand mixer, milkshake thingy and food processor, along with numerous cooking magazines. I love doing an op-shop drop with the car packed to the gills. Such euphoria! :D

26 weeks pregnant and still full of energy LA Mummy, don't use it all up - save some for when bubby is born.

That does sound like some serious nesting LA Mummy!!!  I remember waking up in the middle of the night with "one week to go" and wondering if I could give the top cupboards in our walk-in wardrobe a quick dust and tidy without waking anyone. ;) ;D

That is serious de-cluttering. I never got like that with DD, perhaps because she was a bit prem.

Now it's getting exciting for you Karen  :)
I hope you are feeling well.

With my first born, I worked full time until 2 weeks prior to  her birth (hairdressing)
and I  stupidly was on a ladder painting the nursery  1 week before she was born.......all foolishness was never repeated with No.2!

I remember nesting too!

p.s. I wouldn't get rid of your stand mixer - some things are better in the stand mixer than the TMX. I use mine rarely, but I keep it in the laundry.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

I still use my stand mixer (cakes)
Food processor (grating cheese - from a large block)
Mini processor - for grating small amounts of just garlic, onion, nuts. ( I find it quicker to clean that than the TMX.)

I have stopped using my bread machine (although occasionally handy when you need to make bread when out)
rice cooker
blender
Haven't been able to get  rid of them  yet :P

Yep, I don't use my bread machine, rice cooker or even food processor anymore. I grate cheese in Herman. It's not so much grated as crumbled, but I like it that way.

I got rid of everything (bread maker, juicer, electric beaters, rice cooker)I will be getting a good stand mixer though for cakes and egg white. TMX is OK but that is better when cooking with kids especially.

i'm trying to cut down on my biscuit/cake/dessert making (life sure is bleak without these treats) but I read somewhere here on the forum about successful eggwhite beating - give it a try, and maybe you can throw out your handmixer:

make sure TM bowl is clean & dry. 2 mins, 37 degrees, Speed 4

I've tried egg whites three times and they have not worked. Today I handwhisked them.
