Newbie from Launceston, Tasmania
« on: August 19, 2010, 02:22:42 pm »
Hi All!

I am very excited about receiving my Thermomix on the weekend.  I decided to buy one after getting interested in Cyndi O'Meara books and I also have to follow a gluten free diet.  I can hardly decide what to do first with it!!!

Probably will go for the gluten free bread for myself, it sounds like a winner... what should I follow up with to justify the expense to my husband!?!?!?!?!

Hi Alison, welcome to the world of the Thermomix.  If you have the GF cookbook, I'd try the Moussaka, it is delicious. You will need to make the vegie stock concentrate pretty soon though as a lot of recipes call for that.  Soups from the forum, there are some lovely ones on here and because we often have reviews, you get a feel for the recipe and know it is going to be a success.  Why not let DH browse the books himself and let him choose something?  Have fun and don't worry about the expense being justified - I think we all do at first but after a while you won't even think like that as you will know it is paying for itself.

Welcome Alison,  have fun with your TMX.  I made chocolate custard for my DH when I first got my machine.  Sub the flour with cornflour and you can eat it too.

Thanks everyone ... it's exciting just planning the first few experiments.   I am most excited about cutting out all those horrible numbers and additives that sneak into my pantry!  Just made my last hummus in equipment thay is threatening to smoke!

Cheers,
Al

Really impressed with Cyndi's gluten free bread!

Not only am I new to Thermomix but until last month I didn't even know what Rapadura sugar was let alone that it existed.  What I desire most to do with my Thermomix is to give my little girls a healthy eating experience that is also delicious!

So, in that spirit, I am after the most scrumptious, but healthy, muesli bars, banana and carrot cakes etc for lunch boxes.  Obviously I would love to hear what other people think are the more successful ones so that I can learn from their experiences!

I have also heard that there is a good 'milo' substitute for the TX?!

Thanks very much in anticipation!

Cheers,
Alison

Hi Alison,

Welcome to the forum from another Tassie member (we are at Forth).  :)

Cathy has posted her homemade milo recipe here.

I made a slice recently using the milo which my kids like.  You can find the recipe on my blog here:)

Thanks Chelsea ... exactly the sort of thing that I am after!  Only started on this journey since reading Cyndi O'Meara recently ... would have loved to attend her class here.  I am still learning so much about making food healthier without making it boring and/or disappointing!
