nut free choc spread
«

Hi this is Sandyleigh, a new owner of a Thermomix. My 6yr old has numerous allergies including sulphur, mild allergy to peanut and possibly mango and anaphylatic to sesame seeds. He used to love Nutella but can't have it anymore, does anyone have a nutfree choc spread recipe that is similar to nutella? Would love to find one so he can have a treat. Thanx

Hi Sandyleigh - I found this
site
which might help you. The basis of the spread is a butter made from sunflower seeds.
I'd start by making a "sunbutter" by grinding the sunflower seeds down until they become buttery. Then add the cocoa and sugar to taste and some milk to get the right consistency.
It's an interesting challenge - would love to hear how you get on.

Yes I think using seeds would be the way to go. I would probably try the EDC recipe using sunflower seeds and just see how it goes. It wouldn't be nutty, but may still taste ok.

Hi Sandyleigh,
I make one that can be used as a chocolate or carob icing (spread on cake while hot), or firms up to a chocolate or carob spread if refrigerated. It has no nuts or seeds - it's smooth. Tastes best with butter or ghee, but is not bad with coconut oil if you can't use butter.
Carob cake with dairy free, sugar free, nut free icing!
Chocolate/Carob Icing or Spread
1. Cook in Thermomix - 2 mins, 60 degrees, speed 2:
- 3 Tablespoons coconut oil or butter
- 1/2 cup carob chips or dark chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup honey (or rice malt syrup)
- 60g
rice-almond milk
(or other milk)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
2. Drizzle and spread over cake - it will get firm as it cools. Or you can keep it in the fridge and spread it on toast.

;)Thank you to everyone who kindly replied to my quest for a nut free choc spread. Will try both the sunbutter choc spread suggestion and also the choc icing/spread and let you know how I go. Love the choc custard which we trialled this weekend and are going to put into his school lunchbox tomorrow. Very exciiting for him and me!!! Thanx, Sandyleigh
