Purée baby food
« on: September 13, 2010, 12:10:46 pm »
Hi everyone.  I was looking forward to using tmx once dd2 was weaning.  I have indeed found it to be excellent when i'm making a batch of food for the freezer, but am not getting on with it at all when I just want to prepare a portion of what we're all eating for her.  I've tried using the steamer basket to keepnthe food down on the blades, but it's still too little food to work.  Is there a trick to get around this, or do I need to buy a hand blender? I sold my old one a few months after getting tmx as I didn't use it anymore  :-))
As my picture shows, I've suddenly become younger :-)  DD was of the opinion that her picture should be here, not mine!

Have you seen BabyLedWeaning? All ABA branches have it - saves you from the whole puree caboodle! And from my experience results in kids that will eat anything as there is no texture etc issues.

ABA is Australian Breastfeeding Assoc Caroline, so you can work out the similar in the UK. Unfortunately mine were past that stage by the time I got my TMX

Have you tried adding the food once the blades are spinning?

I think you would probably just have to keep scraping it down and reblending.  :(

Would it be possible to make a little more and freeze it for when the family are having non little one meals?
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

I would say you'd be best making a bit more and freezing portions.
My kids were all BLW'd (ick to that pureed stuff, makes me shudder) so much easier, and benefits for the kids.

Thanks everyone. DD2 is now happily on BLW.  I still have a bunch of pures in the freezer, which she's currently rejecting in the joy of feeding herself.  But presumably she'll accept them later.
