I'd better round up the couple of TMX books I have and don't use and put them on ebay. It can help pay for my next trip.

Some people are importing the machines from Germany and selling them on ebay too! They don't have an Australian warranty and people are still paying $1700+ for them - insanity! I just purchased mine from a local consultant - don't really see the point in saving around $200 and then having a machine with no warranty or local support, nuts!!!
Why are thermoservers going for so much? Can't you get them through consultants for a price? I asked my consultant for one but she hasn't gotten back to me yet.

As this is my first post perhaps I should go to the introductions area first, oops  :o

Welcome fukuro(?) - glad to have you aboard. yes I agree - why pay sooo much - I'm pretty sure they even have the euro plug on them too!  :o As for the thermoserver - the price is far too much to pay but they are only available to Aussie buyers and only if you have a demo - (free when you buy your TMX and have a demo but after you can keep having as many demos you want and pay $30 for them!)  ;)

Welcome fukuro - bad enough buying a TMX, but paying over $20 for a Thermoserver is ridiculous. Wish I had a few to sell.

i saw that someone is importing the tms and selling them for $200 cheaper than thru a consultant... i would be very wary of this and think paying abit more for peace of mind is definantly worthwhile.   also i am not inclined to make large purchases on ebay anymore as a friend of mine just got ripped off $4000 , so i feel a little bit more cautious about using ebay now than i used to....
about the thermoservers though, i just cant believe you would pay $200+ for one wen you can get them for free or $30!!! seems abit strange to me!

Can I buy a Thermoserver for $30 if I have a Varoma demo?

You can only purchase Thermoservers for half price when you have a basic demo, so no, not at a Varoma demo, however the only way you can get your hands on the Full Steam ahead cookbook is to have a Varoma demo, plus now you get your free recipe cards at your Varoma demo too:)

Many hosts will have another demo after their Varoma demo so they can then purchase the Thermoserver of bread mat for half price:)

When you buy a Thermomix in Australia and have a delivery demo you get a free Thermoserver as your host reward.

Did your friend pay by Paypal ??  If your paid by Paypal then you have buyer protection and can claim the money back from Paypal. You have to obviously go thru a claim process etc but it's not too laborious.  If she didn't use Paypal, then that was quite silly, especially for that kind of money.  It's like anything on the internet, you need to take precautions ! If you don't take the precautions, then wear the costs !

hi debbiebillg
i agree you need to take precautions, unfortunately the transaction wasnt made through paypal, something i personally wouldnt do, but its still disappointing for them. they have definantly learnt there lesson and what an expensive way to learn it.
