chopped dried mushrooms
« on: November 10, 2010, 12:39:11 pm »
Hi,
I've seen some recipes which use chopped dried shitake mushrooms for added flavour. Do you chop the dried shitake mushrooms in the thermomix? Is it too hard/tough and will it spoil the blades?

Thanks in advance!

I'd say it'd be okay  - the blades can chop ice - i think dried mushies might be a tad softer than ice.

Yep it works fine. Just make sure the bowl is very dry before doing so and it will work fine. And because you're essentially making a natural msg powder, it will make your food taste awesome!!

Tried it yesterday. The dried mushrooms caps were fine but the stems were hard and bits ended up getting stuck onto the blades. The larger stuck pieces were about 1-2cm in size. Anyone tried this before and got similar results?
