$4 Mudcake
« on: November 05, 2010, 07:11:33 am »
Hi all,
I am going to buy the budget busters recipe book but I'm really wanting to make the mudcake out of this book.  Would anyone be kind enough to msg me the recipe please?

I'm going to order my copy this weekend. :)
Steph.

Hi Steph - my 'Steamed Mudcakes with Orange Sabayon' recipe is the one out of the budget cookbook, except I reduced the sugar (and used rapadura) and used spelt flour, and halved it to fit in the steamer.  If you want to cook it in the oven, just re-double it (is that a word??) and cook it in an ungreased, large, rectangular dish, with a baking dish filled with water underneath it - cook 40-50 mins until set, then cool and ice with ganache.  :)

Thanks Quirky.
Some lovely Thermomixian has sent me the original recipe too.  Muchly appreciated. :)

I might try BOTH versions this weekend. ;)

I did make it, but whilst it was cooling, I caught the cat licking it   :o & >:(
It looked good, smelt good, but you'll have to ask the cat  what it tasted like!
