Tikka paste advice needed
« on: November 29, 2010, 01:54:19 pm »
I'm such an idiot! I was just making the tikka paste recipe for the first time and as such, decided to halve the amounts. BUT I forgot when I was pouring the olive oil in and so now there is too much. I kept going with the recipe, omitting the water to get the liquid down. Have I completely ruined the paste? or do you think it will be okay to use?

I'm sure it will be fine to use - when you "jar" it up a lot of the oil might rise to the top, if not, just use a bit less oil when using it in dishes ...

You could also make up another batch using half amounts and then combine the two. Make the paste without the oil and then for the final cooking add the first batch to the second and cook it.  You can freeze it.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Thanks, I think I'll do as you suggested Cookie, as make another half batch (without the oil) and combine the two.
