Custard crisis!

Yum!
My little fella doesn't like the normal custard recipe much. I think because it is so thick.
I might try this one and see how he likes that instead. Crazy thing is, he'd live on chocolate Yogo if I let him!
Do you use whipping cream or thickened cream Judy?

Have you tried making the custard with cocoa? I do 10g cocoa(woolies home brand pure cocoa)  80g sugar and 25/30 corn flour. Then put it in containers for the boys to eat.

Yep! I need to copy the yogo label to stick it to my containers. He's a little monster. I haven't given up though. When I've tried to give it to him, he's been tired and it's not a good combination with food and my son.

Anytime. Though I can't take credit for the recipe. We made this one at the Christmas cooking class in Wang last year.

Nan claims... (big claim) that she's made custard with water before and it turned out ok.....

It wouldn't surprise me ILB, our nan's are/were very inventive with limited supplies from what I can recall.  You are lucky enough to still have your nan and I'd put her to the test and ask her to make it for you so that you could report back here as to how it tasted

Mum always made custard by putting the custard powder, powdered milk and sugar into a container, adding a tiny bit of water, then adding boiling water and stirring like mad. It always thickened beautifully for her. When I tried to copy (from age 8 onwards) I end up with hot, thin custard, having to put it on the stove to thicken. Now Termite does it all for me.

That's the way my mum did it too! In fact, that's the recipe posted earlier in this thread.

Drrr. The scroll button on the mouse is playing up and I have to scroll using the bar on the side. Hence not much scrolling is being done here. Thanks MJ.

Oh gosh. I hate it when this one gets mad at me and scrolls way too far up or down. DD has been using it and it seems ok now. I'll have to ask her what she did.
