Meat Lover Pizza
« on: January 25, 2011, 11:17:00 am »
Hi,
I am wanting to make some mini meatballs to use to make a meat lovers pizza for the kids but am not sure what I should mix in with the mince to make a yummy combination. Anyone have some ideas? I have some left over mince that I thought I would mix up and cook then freeze for when we have a pizza night.

This is my favourite meat lovers pizza dede - not with meatballs but with mince.

2 tsp olive oil
80g finely chopped onion
1 clove crushed garlic
250g lean beef mince
1 tspn paprika
80mls BBQ sauce
2 x 26cm pizza bases
2 tbsps tomato paste
200g pizza cheese
100g cabanossi, sliced coarsely (I omit this)
50g sliced spicy salami, chopped

Cook the onion and garlic in the oil until soft.  Add the mince and cook, stirring until well browned.  Stir in paprika and 1 tbspn BBQ sauce.  Remove from heat.
Meanwhile place the pizza bases on baking trays.  Combine the tomato paste with the remainder of the BBQ sauce and spread evenly over the pizza bases. Sprinkle pizzas with half of the cheese.  Top with the mince mixture, cabanossi, spicy salami and remaining cheese.
Cook in a 220oC oven for 15 mins or until crusts are crisp and topping is browned lightly. Nice with a green salad.

You could do quite a bit of the preparation in the TMX including the pizza dough of course.

I'v actually made a pizza like dish using the mince as the base of the pizza instead of pizza dough. You then put passata and cheese etc on the top of it.
