help with simmering
« on: December 28, 2010, 09:36:17 pm »
Hi everyone,
I have not tried converting very many recipes yet, and was wondering if someone could suggest how to convert this instruction:  "put boiling water and cracked wheat and ras el hanout in a small saucepan and simmer over a low heat for 3-5 minutes"

I am not sure what temperature to use on the TMX for simmering?

The recipe is a gorgeous, tasty and easy salad from the latest BH&G magasine - roast chicken, spinach and avocado salad - and if I can convert it I will post it.

Thanks!
Karen

Checking the internet on simmering I found it varies from 95 - 100oC  KJH. Just how that equates to the TMX I am not fully sure but I'd go with 90o as you are starting off with boiling water anyway.  Anyone else got any ideas?

Karen I saw that salad on the BH&G show and it looked divine so I would be interested in this answer as well. Also, what aisle of a supermarket would you find cracked wheat?

Convert away!

OK - made this last night - and the simmering in the TMX worked a treat!  Thanks judydawn!  Will post the recipe in Main Courses (even though it is a salad, it has meat in in and can be eaten as a meal in itself)
