Travelling with a TM
« on: January 12, 2011, 03:00:48 am »
Hi!

I'm hoping to travel inter-state with a thermomix;  I've heard it can be done!!  Any tips on how this can be done without incident??

Buy a travel bag $120 from your consultant. Take the blades out and place them in your suitcase maybe the spatula and butterfly too and then take it on as hand luggage. I would be really hesitant about putting it in the hold  ;)

Definitely take out the blade and put it into hand luggage - good tip there, because you really don't want them to confiscate the blade.

Though it is larger than your hand luggage allowance. My customer that travels with hers travels first class and they take it from her and put it in the cupboard as it won't fit in the overhead lockers apparently. This isn't first hand information - only what I have been told.

The TM bag does fit in some overhead plane lockers on it's side.  I wrapped my blades in a teatowel & housed them in the rice basket in my check in luggage & took the TM in it's bag on the plane.

Definitely worth investing in a bag though  :)
