Plastic parts in dishwasher - top-shelf only?

My dearly beloved does the washing up and can't fit the whole Varoma caboodle on the top shelf of the dishwasher, especially if I've got the steamer basket, lid, etc going in the wash too.  (I try to always handwash the stainless-steel jug and blade.)  He's asked me to check with the 'authorities' (?) whether he needs to use the top shelf, or whether it's ok to wash the Varoma and other plastic parts in the bottom or main part of the dishwasher.

Please don't take my word as gospel because all dishwashers wash at different temps but I put the varoma,tray lid and basket in the bottom part of the dishwasher and have not had a problem

That's good news  Does HO advise you to tell us at demos that it is ok to use the whole dishwasher?  Or has it not been addressed?

I have also put the whole varoma as well as the steaming basket in the bottom tray of the dishwasher with no problems.  I did notice though that my MC has become a little cloudy since I put it in the dishwasher - but not sure if that is related or not.

The way I understand dishwashers (and that is not very fully!!!) but older models have a heating element in the bottom of them, so the water is hottest at the bottom and also dishes sit closer to the element which is why things are recommended for top shelf only.  New dishwashers don't have an exposed heating element, so it shouldn't matter where you put things.

Out of interest, why to you handwash the bowl and blade?

Handwash/selfwash.     I read on this forum that Australian dishwasher powders are more corrosive than those sold overseas and can shorten the life of the heating element.

I mainly handwash all my TMX components - I want it to last as long as me  My blade, bowl & lid seal never go in the dishwasher but occasionally I do put the butterfly and steaming basket in there because I have 3 & 2 of those respectively. Adelaide's water is known for it's hardness so I am just playing safe.

The thx parts can stand temperatures above 100 celcius as when you are cooking, so i find it hard to believe there should be any problem using a dishwasher which usually dont go above 60 celcius.
 
I use an industrial dishwasher which goes up to 90 celcius and i wash all my tmx parts in it without any problems.

The whole kit and caboodle go into mine top and bottom. But my element is not exposed down the bottom - I would be wary putting any "plastics" (polypropylene) down there if you had the older style dishwasher.

You can see if you have an element in the bottom, it is pretty obvious, so if you have an old dishwasher, then out it all on the top I guess

I don't put any of it in the dishwasher.  I always have a sink of hot soapy water while I'm cooking and wash my TMX, knives and non stick pans as I go.  It's just easier for me.  I'm aslo a little weary of what the dish washer can do to things.  It isn't the water temperature that is the problem more the hard detergents that we use in the dishwasher.
