Introducing myself
« on: May 07, 2011, 04:09:56 am »
Hi there,

I'm a stay-at-home mum to a 2-year-old little mister, who fills my days with joy and wonder. We live in Melbourne and have recently got our first Thermomix. And oh boy, has it changed our lives!! Since getting the TM, we've made almost every meal in it (or using it). My son's favourite is chicken & mushroom stroganoff, while the husband and I love steamed salmon with mash potatoes. More than the food, I love that it's allowing me to spend less time cooking and more time with my son.

The only downside is that we're also doing more baking, because it's so EASY!! And I worry about the effect that the constant supply of cakes and cookies might have on our waistlines...  ;D

Looking forward to learning more and more and trying out new recipes (although I may have to take up more sport to counteract all the treats)!!
Live and learn.

Hi Riina, welcome to the forum. I have an almost 3 yr old grandson and they certainly do fill your days with joy and wonder although mine isn't everyday like yours is. You are right, buying a TMX certainly does change your life - those without one would not understand this but there are enough of us around now to know exactly what you mean. Like you, I also started eating far too many treats, something I rarely cooked before TMX but you learn to control yourself after a couple of years and ease up on things like that.  Sharing with others is the way to go, send a batch of bikkies or scones into your next door neighbour and just keep a few back for yorselves.  Have fun, it's lovely to have you join us on here.

Hi and welcome Riina  ;D

I am so pleased to hear how happy you are with your TM.  I ordered mine yesterday but I think I know that I have made a wise decision.

I must admit that I am worried about the waistline, having just lost 8kgs and would ideally like to lose another 5kgs I am going to have to have extremely strong willpower when it comes to all the goodies I will be baking.  Luckily I have 3 hungry teens who will eat their way through it I am sure.

Hi Riina,
Welcome to the Forum. I am addicted to finding new recipes to try. I have a folder that is getting fuller and Fuller by the day. I will never get through all these recipes but I am having fun trying.
I have 5 Kidlets who keep me very busy and eat alot of food so I can just keep cooking and know that nothing goes to waste cause there is always someone who will eat it.

Hi Riina

Wish I had a thermomix when my kids were little - it would have been such a help. Nevermind, now DS20 and DD 17 are finding it a very handy tool, and tell their friends about it!

Have fun!
