My Thermomix Adventure

Hi Everyone,
I stumbled across Thermomix while googling for recipes, and decided that I had to have it primarily because I am a kitchen appliance addict, and I could not find any negative reviews, which I thought was pretty amazing.  I justified the price by making it a 50th birthday present to myself from everyone I know ... they actually don't know yet, and my birthday is about 9 months away.  1 demo later, I was a bit unsure but purchased in anyway.  Unfortunately it arrived when I got ridiculously busy at work and it has not been used all that much, and I have had a few disasters with it and very limited success.
Anyway, work has finally calmed down and I have started looking for recipes so that I can start this adventure.  My younger son just discovered Chicken Kiev (terribly unhealthy bought version) at a friend's house and loved it.  I foolishly gave in and bought some for the family and it was enjoyed by all.  Comments around the table included from me "There is no way we can eat this regularly, or even rarely - it is really unhealthy" to "Maybe you could make that in your thermomix' from son, followed by smirks and giggles around the table. 
Imagine my joy when I discovered the Thermomix Chicken Kiev recipe.  I cannot wait to make it.

Welcome to the forum Chris.What a great Birthday present to yourself,even though it's 9 months from now There are many superb recipes here on the forum,it will be difficult for you to chose to what to cook next.Have you seen the Chicken Cordon Bleu recipe ,really yummy

I can relate to what you've said. I was excited when I first heard about the thermomix online. had a crappy demo by a consultant who retired after I bought it and thus didn't provide any support, but bought it because I'd already made up my mind to buy it before she arrived - had I not known about it prior, I would probably not have bought it. Then, I wanted to make everything under the sun and then some more and didn't have time, so was very frustrated.

Fast forward to now - I'm really in a happy place. Fabulous consultant who's always there for me, keeps me updated and has taught me so much so that I use my tm all the time.

You'll get there - just take baby steps, then you'll be flying along.

If you're looking for recipes and an adventure - you're definitely in the right place cgonsalv!! I'm sure your son will come to eat his Chicken Kiev - along with his words once you make the kievs. They are superb and so much better than the bought ones.

Hi Chris, welcome to the forum.  With the support of this forum I am sure you will soon be having great success with everything you cook.  I also love the Chicken Kiev - make a pile and freeze them for a quick meal later.

Welcome Chris. I can think of no better birthday gift. When you birthday arrives you will be a Thermomix master.
We love the chicken kiev and chicken cordon bleu. It is so easy. the first time it may seem time consuming but when you have done it once it is much easier.
Have lots of fun trying forum recipes and we'd love you to report back. Some of us even report our flops.

welcome chris - you certainly know how to spoil yourself  This is a well worn Smoked Salmon dip recipe that we whip up at the drop of a hat, but usually halve otherwise there is way too much for a small gathering, and Crispy Olives are a nice nibbly as well. You will need something like this at your party in 9 months time and everyone will want to see that you are using their present

With all your great encouragement, I tried the Chicken Kiev, and they were delicious and enjoyed by all. I made a double quantity so we are all looking forward to it again.  Also made chocolate custard with dark chocolate - very nice.  The boys are smiling instead of smirking now !!!! 
Saw this healthier alternative to use instead of the garlic butter so will give it a go as well 
2 Tbsp ricotta cheese
225 g frozen spinach, defrosted and drained
2 cloves garlic, crushed
2 Tbsp finely chopped chives
1 Tbsp finely chopped parsley
