Hello from Arizona USA
« on: May 26, 2011, 02:48:07 pm »
I just found out about the Thermomix a month or so ago and it looks like a very interesting device.  Seems to be rather uncommon in the US unless I'm missing something somewhere.  I'm not much of a cook but enjoy baking, especially bread.  Nevertheless, I haven't starved to death in the ten years I've been on my own since my wife died.

I thank the forum administrator for allowing me to join and I look forward to learning about this interesting machine and what the possibilities of acquiring one are here.

Dave

Hello from Ontario, Canada.  I saw the machine demonstrated at the London, UK Food and Drink show last November and found out on returning home that they are sold here--in Quebec and Vancouver and can be shipped to the States.  Also, I think that they are available in Mexico which is closer to you.  It is like having a chef in your kitchen and the recipes off the web are just great.  Good Luck!

Hi Dave,  welcome to the forum.

I live in soCal. and got my TM31 from Canada  from this vendor.  They were very helpful at at the time were offering free shipping (in Nov. 2009) which they do periodically.
I was directed there by Helene, a very enthusiastic Thermomix Blogger:

While I haven't had the advantage of having a consultant, the machine does not have a steep learning curve and there are many videos on line that are sufficient to demonstrate how to do some of the trickier procedures.

The machine has great advantages to folks who have small kitchens - friends who live full time in a large motorhome (snowbirds) bought one last spring and have nothing but raves about it.  Another friend who lives on her boat in a marina also has found it to be a terrific adjunct to her life style - she no longer eats out three or four times a week because of the chore of cooking in a tiny galley.  She says her diet is better and she has saved more money than the TM31 cost in just one year.

Hello Dave and welcome!

Hopefully you can get hold of a TMX as they certainly make cooking a lot of fun and everything is so quick and easy  ;D

Hi Dave, how lovely of you to join us whilst you consider your options of owning one of these amazing machines.  You will soon get the gist of things here and the fact that we all love our machines comes clearly through all our postings.  I'm so glad you have coped on your own during these past 10 years - I know some men who would not know where to start to look after themselves if they lost their partners. Have a browse, get excited and go for it  ;D  ;D

Thank-you all for the welcomes!  I'm sure I'll learn a lot at this forum.  I also like the international aspect of it.   ;D

Nice to see you here too, Andie, and thanks for the interesting links.  The DLX mixer you helped me with is working out fine for all of my dough making activities.

Now I'll get reading before I have to get to work.  Thanks again and see you all in the forums.
