TM Heating slow, thermo element broken?
« on: June 27, 2011, 01:07:31 am »
When doing a custard I noticed that my TM is not heating up fast enough.

As a reference test I boiled 1000 ml of water to 100 C.
According to the book this should take 5 min.
I only got to 80 C in that time.

I did this 2 x with the same result just to make sure.

Q:
How many heating elements in the TM?
and if there is more then one is it possible that one fails and the TM keeps on working?
Any other hints or ideas what is happening?

(Contacted our Sales Person, just no answer yet, maybe the forum is a quicker way to get an answer)

Thanks all
Romano

Hi Ramano, I hope this isn't a serious problem  :-[.
Just thought I would ask you if the TM Bowl is nice and clean on the bottom? and hasn't got a film on the bottom of the bowl. I am only asking as I have made porridge before and didnt have the speed fast enough so the porridge started sticking a little on the bottom and wouldn't heat up. I had to give the bottom a good clean before it would heat properly. I think the recipe said to cook at  ^^ soft speed but I found it really needed to be cooked at speed 1 to stop it sticking.
Hope you can resolve your problem quickly

Hello Romano, sorry to have to welcome you to the forum with your first posting being a problem.  The manual doesn't say it has 2 heaters but once your consultant gets back to you, the problem will be sorted.  It may have to go away to be checked by the technician unless she/he has heard of this problem before and can sort it out easily. At least you've done the testing yourself and proven something is not quite right - up here for thinking.  Hope the problem can be fixed quickly for you and if you don't hear back from the consultant today, I'd be giving H.O. a call. Is it winter where you live? In cold weather the bowl will take a bit longer to heat up. Just add a couple of minutes extra.
