« on: August 11, 2011, 02:44:39 pm »
hi all, i would like to make some very yummy waffles like the ones you get at those icecream places. (i think they are called gelare but as there isnt one in busselton its been a long time since i went there)
i was looking at carolines waffle batter, does anybody know if this is this style of waffle. when i attempted to make waffles ages ago they were more like pikelets!
thanks in advance, nicky  :)
the answer is chocolate, who cares what the question is!

Nicky if you're after a waffle recipe Caroline's waffle batter looks good.
I make waffles regularly for breakfast but haven't tried using the TMX...yet!  Here is the way I make the batter:

Mix together:
300g plain flour
a pinch of salt
1 tsp of sugar

Whisk in :
250ml cream
250ml milk
4 egg yolks

Mix in 80g melted butter

Whisk 4 egg whites until firm and gently fold into batter.

I think quirky Jo has a recipe using rice. Can't for the life of me remember what it is called but they were yummy. I haven't ever had a waffle at gelare so can't compare sorry ;)

Tommorrow's breakfast?  :D
I've followed that recipe for years and it's a real crowd pleaser.  What kind of waffle-maker have you got?

I was thinking of using something (an egg ring would be too small) to build it up when cooking.
