Balti chicken with coconut cream- Indian cookbook, pg 108
« on: August 22, 2011, 05:48:30 am »
Recipe Name: Balti Chicken with coconut cream (need to make Balti paste first, pg 18)
Book Name:Indian cookbook
Tweaking details: None
Review: It was bland :(  Both my husband and I thought it had potential, but was missing something.  A shame as we LOVE the Tikka paste, and had high hopes for this one.  The recipe doesn't say to marinate the meat in the paste, so I think this would help.  I felt in at least needed onion and garlic for a bit more flavour.  Have lots of paste left so will experiment again and see if I can improve it.  Will also try just using it in a Balti curry (alss pg 108)
Score: (out of 5*)  As is, 2/5

Thats a shame it was rather bland. I marinate chicken  in the paste overnight, works well for, then continue as recipe says.
Let us know how the tweaking goes, as i love balti chcken

Someone once suggested googling an original version of some of these recipes to compare them with what is written in our books.  That may provide the missing ingredient and make all the difference. ;)
