In the area where we both live I really like Harvest in North Fremantle. Millbrook winery in Jarrahdale is great for a weekend 'day out' type of lunch ($$) and Riverbank Estate in the Swan Valley does lovely lunches (sit under the vines and look out across the greenery. Himali Ghurka in Applecross used to be nice but I haven't been there for years (not sure why ). Sadly a lot of the restaurants in Fremantle are formulaic (anyone for Italian, and more Italian, and more Italian???) and the quality isn't great.

The budget certainly takes a beating with a night out these days

Restaurant?? Whats a Restaurant?? I have 5 kids I don't know what a Restaurant is lol.

Actually DH and myself usually get a baby sitter once a year (Yes I said Year) on our Anniversary to go to a Restaurant.
We don't have a favorite as we don't go very often and hard to recommend somewhere when you Only go to the same place maybe once in every 5 years lol.

Dede I know how you feel - when my 3 were little I was lucky to go to a restaurant once a year (getting babysitters seemed too hard and expensive, plus the meal...). Now my youngest is nearly 18 so no more babysitters and (supposedly) more disposable income, although kids still seem to absorb a lot of it even when they are older 

Eventually you get your (social) life back

Millbrook is lovely we went there a few ears ago, i can see another trip woukd be good.

Fortunately, or unfortunately as the case may be,  I have become somewhat more pickier when going out for a meal.

My partner used to work for a food distribution company (and I didn't have a TM then) I was amazed at the stuff cafe and restaurants could buy pre-made.  Got a realisation then that the the chef hadn't spent all day in the kitchen doing the food.

Now in my post TM life,  if we decide to go out for meal, it has to be the best, fresh food.  We live in a relatively small city, so only the best will do.

Funny thing is, that one of the three best restaurants I have been to, have 3 x TM's,  the other one we decided to go to for lunch (but were late without a booking) had a palate cleanser of mandarin sorbet and grilled blue eye trevalla on parsnip puree, blah, blah, blah.  Sounded fancy, but knew I can make it myself at a quarter of the price without too much effort.

Unfortunately cannot recommend any restaurant. We used to have a Vietnamese restaurant in South Fremantle that we went to for years, and then without any warning it closed. Ha Ha, it was sort of attached to a brothel and over the years the wait staff were all new immigrants ie. I think they suddenly got closed due to illegal immigrants. Can't remember the name of the Thai Restaurant that we now go to on South Terrace, but they are very attentive (silver service attention) but sometimes I wish they would change their menu a little to offer more choice. Apart from that, my kitchen is the best restaurant.

I can't help you Hally. My DH hates eating out. A treat for him is Red Rooster. We did go the the wharf for a couple of meals in Darwin. If anyone ever suggests going to a restaurant he suggests they all come to our place! Even pre TMX days. He didn't eat out at all as a kid and feels very uncomfortable there. I sometimes eat out with DD or my brother.

Not a lot of eating out here either sorry. We have a seafood restaurant here in North-West Tassie called Pedro's which is lovely and great for special occasions (and Hubby's Christmas work dinner ).  We can't afford to eat out often though and can usually cook nicer food at home. A fish and chips picnic at the beach is about our limit at the moment with our little kidlets.

Hi we live in Coffs Harbour and sadly I have to say that mostly when we go out to a restaurant here, it is quite a disappointing affair.  I find that the prices are over inflated and/or the food is inconsistent (one day good the next not so) and mostly you walk away and feel quite ripped off that it was not the dining experience you wished for.  That said we have a fabulous Indian take away/restaurant "Aroma's of India" having travelled a lot, it is fairly hard to beat, as well as a good Thai restaurant/take away. Also in a small town called Sawtell there is a lovely cafe called 'Shimmers" they have the best ever Eggs Benedict.  So for now, we just stick to the ones we know.....suppose we are lucky to have them really in a population of eighty thousand plus.         Have a lovely day

We don't have a favourite eating venue as we eat anywhere we happen to be at the time.  I have the Entertainment Book in the car so if we have an appointment somewhere just choose something close to that or use the vouchers in the local rag for places like Cafe Primo which have such a wide range of choices and are pretty good. Some places are better than others but the price usually reflects that and like Chelsea, love our fish and chips at the beach.  Our favourite fish & chippery is Soto's on Semaphore Road - we have been going there for over 25 years, even before we came to live in this area.
