I made something else with the broccoli. My 11year old daughter told me not to ruin this recipe
. I have to make the Mock Aloo Gobi soon again

Wise daughter. The cauliflower and potato seem to marry so well.

Thanks for bumping this one CC, forum is so big now that some of these lovely recipes Thermomixer posted are getting lost.

Really wanted to try this recipe since looking at site (before I got the thermomix, which arrived recently). It's cooking at present, only 15 mins to go. Did taste the sauce, its really good. Will definitely be doing this recipe again, thanks everyone for the recommendations.

Made this tonight and it was delicious and easy. My son who ate alool gobi often in India said it tasted authentic, even though it's steamed rather than fried. Much healthier, easier and less messy this way! The only tweak I would do next time would be to use ground coriander rather than whole spice, as I thought the coriander seed was a bit full on. Liked the other whole spices, though. I served it with rice and palak paneer (indian cheese with creamed spinach) and rice

I used Helene's recipe from her super blog, and followed her directions to make the paneer.

Would have been great with some home made chappatis . . . but I was getting a bit carried away for a school night!

Yum Lellyj thanks for link to palek paneer. Another good one to try soon. Someone said in the paneer comments that tofu can be made by similar process but with soy milk.

Hi Vivaroo, I've modified the post to include the link to Helene's pictures on how to make paneer, which are so useful. Good instructions are in the Indian cookbook too. I don't know about how to make paneer with soymilk, but I do know you can use tofu instead of paneer in palak paneer (which would be palak tofu, then!) with good results.

My non-vegetarian family really like tofu, but only certain brands that come in a sauce/marinade. The tofu I've had at Japanese restaurants is a world away from the plain hard stuff in the supermarket (no wonder there's not much love for tofu). I'll give it a go when I get a chance.
But back to the paneer ...yuuuummmm!!!!!
