Gluten-free vegan sandwich bread?
« on: October 23, 2011, 12:59:04 am »
Hi Everyone,
I've successfully made gluten-free bread using Cyndi O'Meara's recipe, which was great. However, I'm  now looking for a gluten-free egg-free bread that is both tasty and usable for sandwiches, and uses not-too-exotic accessible ingredients. A big ask, I know. Any recommendations?
Thanks,
Jenny

Have you looked at Jo's (Quirky Jo) blog?  She has a recipe for her favourite artisan bread on there and I am pretty sure I remember her being quite excited about being able to wrap it around a sausage.  Sorry, if I wasn't such a computer novice I would put the link on for you.  I'm sure somebody clever will come along and do that though!   :)

Thanks guys. Unfortunately, if you scroll down the page a bit further, that one does have eggs in. Looks nice though!

Thanks JD for linking that for me. JKMT,  I notice there is some comments from people on Jo's blog asking about using egg replacer (Jo hadn't tried it yet), are you able to use that?  Gosh it must be hard for you trying for both gluten and egg free but still tasting somewhat like bread.  I hope somebody has some good ideas for you soon.

Thanks Tarosuma. It's not for me, but for a friend. Will keep giving it a try though and experiment with egg replacers, and see whether we can produce something tasty and workable, and not filled with nasties. She & I attended a demo today, and it made me realise just how tricky the combination of some of these things is. Good for a challenge though!
