Maybe ask at your local bakery?
Not sure if they just keep their flour in bags, but they might have spare containers, or at least let you know when you could purchase one from.

I get mine from the feed barn.  They sell buy animal food but also sell airtight clean large buckets, etc.  You should have some sort of store like this where you live.

Feed stores are a good idea.
You might also check the "survival" stores that not only sell "emergency" foods and etc., but they sell some great long-term storage containers that are absolutely safe for any kind of foodstuffs.

They are practically indestructible - the ones I have out in the shed will probably be around at the turn of the next century.
They are impervious to rats and mice and the odd possum that wanders in.
I have friends who live up at Mammoth mountain and have all their extra food stored in them as they are also bear-proof.  One bear got into their garage and rolled one of the containers about two miles down hill and it had some scratches but was still intact.

some bakerys sell 15 litre or maybe its 30 litre containers they are  round and white and have a very good sealing lid
they get them in with food in them not shore what ,
they use the food and  they end up with lots of containers so they sell the empty ones

Check out your local milk and cheese manufactureres.
We buy 10litre buckets that come from a local yoghurt maker.
They are food grade plastic,  White, Lids really seal well and just cost $2.oo for the bucket and lid.
I think they are used to set the yoghurt.  Then when it has been decanted into the retail size pots the buckets are sold off.
I use them for my bird seed,  Fish feed and every other use imaginable.

Most catering equipment supply companies will sell a variety of food grade storage containers.  We have ones that remind me of the tidy boxes that you put under desks years ago when we were at school....we also have the buckets with lids in a variety of sizes.  This website http://www.peopleinplastic.com.au/ will give you an idea what sort of things are available.  I don't know any companies in Melbourne that I can recommend, but you should find something in the yellow pages.  Most will sell to the general public.

Hope that helps
