Working the beast too hard?

I just made some brownies - I used speed 8 for about 2 minutes to mix the batter.  It mixed it fine but I could kind of hear the machine revving up and down a bit.

I dont want to burn it out or anything - how do you know if its working too hard?

It shouldn't wear out as it has a reluctant motor so no gears, belts to burn out but i'm not sure re the problem you had. Maybe ring your consultant or head office.

Did you overfill it?

I have heard this too when something has been too thick or  too much.  I have never just mixed on 8 though . I usually mix on about 6.

I'm sure I read somewhere the other day (may have been the turkish delight posts) that it will ay if it is overloaded and stop.
It comes up with LOAd.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

I would think that 2 mins on speed 8 would be far too much mixing for brownies as well  ??? ??? How did they turn out auds?

Was going to post recipe on here but dont want to if its not safe for the TM   :-))

Maybe it didnt need speed 8 but at lower speeds it wasnt really doing enough to mix the batter IYKWIM

I sometimes get the revving when I am chopping up vegie scraps (if I put too many in the bowl) so I have learnt to not overload.  The turkish delight didn't rev, it just stopped dead completely mid stream.  It is a funny thing to hear, one minute it is whirring away then no sound at all, not even the tune to let you know the time is up (it wasn't up so it wasn't going to sing).

This is scary but I think we have all experienced it. It is like listening out for the babies cry as we are so tuned in to our  kitchen babies.

Mine has done that weird revving thing when I have been re churning frozen ice cream, I did panic! It seems fine though afterwards.

what i heard was that the blades are the thing that are sacrificed when you overload your tm too often; the engine doesn't burn out like with other appliances. what happens is that when the bowl is overloaded, and the engine is trying to spin the blades, when it can't spin the blades, the thing in the middle of the blade releases so it can spin (the thing in the middle), but the blades stay stationary. sooo...that's what happens, so i've been told. it doesn't happen the first time, but it will happen over time if you overload your bowl; that's why when we make the sorbet, we only use half the ice each time. something has to "give", so it's the blades.
