Recipe Review Oliebollen - Devil of a Cookbook p.145
« on: July 02, 2012, 02:45:31 pm »
I have a DGS who loves doughnuts, so I was happy to try the Oliebollen recipe in Devil of a Cookbook.

Since Oliebollen cause long queues at heaps of school fairs and community events in Tassie, this recipe alone will be responsible for selling a lot of Devil cookbooks!

Clarity of recipe 5/5 and taste 5/5.

Experience at my place - CHAOS!!!  It was a big mistake on my part to try to prove the Oliebollen dough when DGS was around.  He wanted those doughnuts, "NOW Grandma".

The book says that the recipe makes 18 but at our place there were plenty more than that - sorry, didn't count.

Thanks to the generous advice of forum members on this thread I now have my own doughnut plopper and future Oliebollen sessions (after private proving) are looked forward to by both young and old.

I am still to make these...must do this weekend.
It certainly looks simplified, compared to my Dads tried and tested, hand made & complicated directions...literally in double Dutch  :P
TIP....use a small to medium hand squeeze ice cream scoop, dip in the hot oil, scoop the dough and place in the oil.
.........EAT CAKE!
