Honey Oat Dinner Rolls - KIS
« on: December 29, 2013, 09:48:25 am »
We really enjoyed these. Taste a bit like a brioche, but better. Delicious served straight from oven. I found the dough really easy to work with. I used an old smallish 20cm cake tin and my rolls were really squished and rose up making them very tall. This resulted in a pull apart type of loaf, rather than dinner rolls. Next time I will use my springform tin as it seems a bit bigger than my cake tin and has taller sides. I needed to cover the rolls with foil hallway through cooking as the browned really quickly.  Delicious simple rolls that I will make again. I am really loving this book.

After Step 1 (yeast, milk etc heated) I was called away (I am a volunteer ambo), and didn't get back for about 3 hours  :o  I wondered if all would be well - it was certainly bubbly!  I proceeded with the rest of the recipe anyway, and also added about a tablespoon of Powdered Malt (from For Foods Sake book) and halved the sugar, and they turned out DELICIOUS!  DD declares all TM bread is yuck (lovely teenager), however this one got the tick  ;) so that's a big compliment coming from her!  Will definitely make again.

Matmob I am so glad it turned out for you. Being an ambo volunteer is a fantastic thing to do. Thank you.

Thanks for bumping this matmob, I made these today.

I cut the brown sugar down to 10g and with the honey they were sweet enough for us.

Really lovely we all loved them, not many left now to have with dinner lol.  ;D
