Suggestions for packaging KFC as a gift.

I have been giving interested friends a parcel of KFC chicken coating to try.  This meant slightly different instructions to those who don't have TMX.   

I make up a small packet that contains 2 small plastic containers and some simple instructions.  This includes the weight in grams.
The plastic containers were bought from a catering shop.

The instructions below,  you may wish to print off,  to enclose with the 2 mixes.

Coating for Chicken----1/2 to 1 k of chicken

Mix Number 1 (15g.) powder with 1  1/4 cups of buttermilk or thinned yogurt.
Cover chicken with this mix and soak for 1 hour or up to 1 day.

Mix Number 2 (36g) powder with 2 cups of plain flour
                                                1 Tablespoon of baking powder.   
                                                2 tablespoons of Buttermilk, ( you may need to add a bit more)
Mix with fingers until small lumps form,  (little smaller than a pea)

Drain chicken leaving some buttermilk on chicken.  Dip in flour mix.   Make sure it is well coated.
Shallow fry in oil, (I use Rice Bran Oil), until lightly brown,  finish off in oven 175c, 15 to 20 moms.

You can continue to cook on top of stove if you wish.

For doing it as a gift, what about putting the mix in sealed plastic ziploc bag then putting the bag in one of those chinese takeout boxes that you see around these days? I think you can buy them flat packed. I don't know if this picture will work but will try. Its a great gift idea.

I think those boxes would be great, you could fold up the instructions and have them inside too.  Great idea chookie & cottchick.

Thanks. Love the ideas. I have a template for those take out boxes so will be able to make my own. Have been keeping an eye out for things to put into Christmas hampers - all homemade.

Thanks Chookie - there is going to be lots of your chicken eaten over Christmas all over the world when we all give these little samples.  Love the idea of the take-away box and you could also put your little containers of spice mix inside them along with the instructions.  Must check them out at the cheap shop, haven't got the patience to make my own and I'm sure they would work out cheaper from the shop too.

That is a great website Meganjane, thanks for mentioning it. I like the pouches, I also really like the little clear jars that snap lock shut. the shampoo kits look good too and its only around the corner from me.
