What is everyone doing with their savings? I know Hally is off on holiday with hers, that is wonderful!  I have a nest egg of $6,500 from this years savings. Am very pleased about that. That shopping thread threatens my savings regularly though...haha.

I never go to the shopping thread. It is evil.

I just know I always have money in my purse these days and can afford to buy clothes if I want them, go out to meals, give the grandkids nice things and generally just cope better living on a disability/carers pension.  I would like to upgrade my bathroom but I think I would be in for a shock if I start getting quotes.

Definitely right!  Everything we have ever had done around the house has been double what we thought except landscaping, which was very fair.

We all have things that we want, or dream of.

just have to save up for them.. :)  I have ways and means of saving...  ( I spend nothing during the week)

Really this challenge is brilliant, thanks   Hally. :-* :-*

Although I am not a part of this food challenge it is interesting reading everyone's ideas. I have drastically cut our food bill by menu planning and using up what I have instead of buying new things all the time plus having TM helps as you can cook a chicken main meal eg chicken strog, fast chicken curry etc for about $10 as I get my chicken thighs for $7.99 a kilo

I was hoping to have a zero spend week last week, but it didn't quite happen, although I didn't physically buy anything myself.  My neighbour bought me some milk and eggs at the market whilstnimwas away, and DH  bought some bread and cheese. About $29 was spent, added to the $152 from the week before. So, on average, I'm doing Ok.
I went to the supermarket today, and the chicken shop, and the butcher. My list was really long, and my trolley was really full... I was surprised that my supermarket bill  was only about $150, of which only $117 was food plus about $26 on a chicken and some nice sausages at the other shops. I still need to go to the market on Sunday, but it is the last market for a couple ofmweeksmdue to the Royal Show, so I need to stock up on a few things.
I,m hoping that next week will be a zero or minimal spend week. Wish me luck!
