Another good way to save $$$ is loose your interest in cooking ;D

Unfortunately mine is back & I have a list for the supermarket :(

I can see my $61 spend rising. I am going to see what I need for today & tomorrow & try & buy the rest next week or another time.

I never loose interest in cooking :)
My Thermomix,  Kitchen Aid, Pizza oven, Nu Wave 5 in 1, Spatulas, all brings love, laughter, happiness, and great food  to my kitchen.

Well done Hally. I need my son to come up and visit so he can take frozen meals home again.
I said I wasn't going to stock the freezer up to pussy's bow again but it is getting that way.

I'm at $152 with about $10 left still to buy bread for the week. My aim is $150 so I'm happy with that. And again it included meat and other things I don't need to include in my total. I have my Varoma demo tomorrow so there were extra ingredients for that too.

I have a suggestion, but feel free to ignore it as the "$100 per week food challenge " is a catchy title.
As there are different numbers of people in each household, why not use a guide of $5 per person per day? That works out at $35 per week per person.
ie Single person : $35/week;
   Couples: $70/week:
   Family of 3: $105/week;
   Family of 4: $140/week;
   Family of 5: $175/week;
   Family of 6: $210/week
   Family of 7: $245/week etc

Sue you are scaring me! I am still struggling with $100 a week  ;) I would love to spend less not because we need to but I love a challenge and I guess every little helps, a holiday is a good reward hey H?!

I am thinking I am going to start to take more notice of what I spend, at food shopping that is :-))

Could I ask with the rest of your shopping ie. toiletries etc what would your average shopping expense for the week be?
Just curious as to what others spend each week, please feel free to ignore if you wish  ;D and I know it differs from week to week depending on what you need but just  a general idea

 we are a family of 6 so food budget would be $210 so next week I will start, I already do a menu board and am making a lot more things myself like snacks,biscuits etc since owning my tm so it shouldn't be too hard

Suzanne, once you get into the swing its not as hard as you think. The secret is not to be pulled in by specials, menu plan & only buy what you need for your menu  AFTER checking, pantry, fridge & freezer.

Of course there are going to be times, parties & xmas which do cost more :)

I had my first 0 spend week a few weeks ago & it was a fantastic feeling. My main issue is dairy so the week before I made sure I had enough milk with a long use by date & we ate a lot of left overs & freezer food. judy  suggested having frozen veg & tinned fruit so that was a great help durng that week.

You will also find that you make savings in other areas too. I used to always buy a latte at the shops, now I have it at home before I go, unless  I am meeting friends for coffee :) sometimes  it could be 2 a day :o thats nearly $8!!!

With regards to toiletries & other products, very little now, just replace when we run out, whereas before I used to have stocks of everything. Ths week it was toilet roll & kitchen roll $10, last week dish washing liquid $3.

Good luck & let us know how you go.
