Yes Uni, we are trying to clear the mortgage in the next 3 years. We pay tax returns straight in & if I can add $600-$700per month too it will really help.

Mine is off the mortgage but we have a revolving line of credit so we can always borrow back when needed, like our big trip next year for 6 weeks to the west coast of america & canada. ;D

Awesome H.  No wonder you are so motivated.  We are saving to head back to Africa. Can't wait!

I was worried that my monthly budget might be blown as we are entertaining (large numbers) twice this week. I am keeping things informal (and kid friendly) though. On Tuesday night I cooked up Johnro's macaroni beef, pizzas and a yummy milk tart for one crowd.  It all went down such a treat that I might keep the same menu for the next crowd.  People really seem to appreciate old-fashioned home cooking these days!

Did my main shop today.  $67.00.  This gives me $33 to spend at the Farmers' Market on Saturday.  A $20 bag of bread flour is included in the $67.  Feeling good about this.  Saved money towards holidays.

I spent $70.00 on Monday when I was having a no shopping week.
It's DH's birthday this weekend and we having all the kids and friends over.
DH really wants roast lamb done on the bbq so I can see that the budget will already be blown.
We do have 1 leg of lamb in the freezer but will need another one and I will need some more veggies and a good quality dark chocolate for the cake.
As birthdays are special I think we can afford to spend a bit extra this week. Will be back on budget next week.

Jakodai sent me a pm, she is flat out & doesnt have time to do the spreadsheet to see how we track.

If your interested in tracking please pm me your budget & total weekly expenditure each week. I will add this to the front page.
Thanks

Any savings we have go off the mortgage - we're very boring sensible like that.  I'm going to try and do this for longer if possible cause every little helps.  Plus we've just received our latest Home and Contents Insurance renewal and have been told our premiums have risen from $800 per year to $2700 per year.  They are trying to claim it is not because we live in the Lockyer Valley and that they are not making money off of a natural disaster.  Hmmmmmm, I beg to differ. >:(
