Get well soon dede.

I just threw away $40.00 on Friday.
First went to get a pink slip for my car that is up for rego $33.00 and when I got home had a good look at the rego papers they said no inspection required. I thought as my car was over 3 years I needed a pink slip but it's 5 years. DH didn't pick-up on it either.
Then bought the new Donna Hay magazine when I did the shopping and left it there. Went back but no one knew anything about it.

That combined with my $140.00 no shopping week.

Well it's Sunday and a brand new week, will try again. Did better when I wasn't on such a strict budget.  ??? ???

well I am shopping for groceries today, and I don't need much.

Michelle, just as well $40, and not $400 :)

I might just stay in bed.

Menu plan simple.

Start at top,of fridge and work down right to left. The champers is  on  the left. Plenty of apples to eat. We don't drink milk though I do have some for cooking.

Hit the pantry.

Then  start at the top of the freezer and work down. The duck is on the bottom. When finished with duck go shopping.

For breakfast today  I see some small lamb chops and eggs looking good. Saw some rye bread slices in the freezer .

Lunch is  some sort of steak I think sitting on the top,of the pile so it could be  a BBQ steak or a curry depending on what the mystery meat is.

Plenty of veggies . And a bucketload of Quinoea. So maybe a salad with white Quinoea.

Supper is definitely hoarded cheese and crackers no doubt nearing use  by date not that it matters.

Tomorrow I will HAVE to make  some bread. No doubt it will have lots of seeds.

I can do this.

Haha Gert, you and me both. I might be a little out of tune after a couple of champers though.

I've read all 16 pages of this thread and you've all shamed me into taking on this challenge.

I did a freezer and pantry challenge for a month last year which was fantastic, so need to do it again.

Like you, Gert, I have three types of quinoa in my pantry. I also have every type of flour imaginable, every seed you can think of, every nut imaginable and all the dried fruits.

I try to menu plan, but don't think about what's in the freezer and pantry, just choose what I want to cook and eat!

I'll start on Monday. I'll be shopping in
Albany on Tuesday, so will be buying meat in bulk. My challenge will be spending less than $600 a month on food. I feed the two of us, sometimes DD and her fiancé and also do meals for FIL about four times a week.

I've been known to spend $600 in one week! Especially if I do a big shop in our local town which is very expensive.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Hally, you will be so proud. :D
My $100 a week spend, was  $88 at WW.

I bought enough milk for the week, so no go to the corner store.

Mainly fruit and veges, and pantry basics.
I have a freezer inventory, I just need to inventory the pantry now.
Off to start baking biccies for kids, cakes ect.

Dinner is leftovers from last night too.

Obbe, well done.

This week I know I will be just under the $100 again, but thats OK as long as I stay under.

Made more butter this morning, still have some cream left so will make  another batch later. Cheaper to use my cream than buy butter this week. Just used homemade butter in the bechamel sauce, I am sure it will still taste good, maybe better. Home made butter going into everything this week, then I dont need to buy any, ;D who woud have thought  I would do this to save a few $$$ ??? :o

Had my donna hay mag delivered, fantastic gnocchi & silverside recipes in it. Theres a recipe using silverside for lasagna, ds has been asking for lasagna but didnt want to buy mince until I do my big meat order but nw I can using silverside, another way to stay in budget ;D

Happy Happy Happy
