Chocolate and Orange Cake?
« on: June 04, 2012, 04:19:00 am »
Does anyone have a recipe for a chocolate and orange cake. Ideally one which uses real oranges in its creation? I have looked and looked on the site and cant find one  ??? That doesn't mean one isn't there! I cant always see the forrest for the trees!!! It would be a first, I never not been able to find a recipe on the site before! Thank you.   ;D

Hi and welcome, I made choc  orange mud cake last week.
I used a normal mud recipe but replaced some water with fresh juice and added rind, was yummy.
I used a recipe from recipe community but I'm sure any mud recipe would work.
It wasn't as heavy as a normal mud cake, more half sponge half mud.( with juice). When made as per linked recipe it's heavy, muddy and Devine, perhaps just consider adding rind?

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I ended up making the 30 second cake, with 3/4 block of dark, dark chocolate and two medium sized oranges blitzed up added at the very beginning then followed the cake recipe melting the choc and orange with the butter at the very beginning. It turned out like a mud cake and its AWESOME!!!! I have now made it 4 times for friends and work. Its quite a hit!!! x :-))

Caren, I would highly recommend Sim's Flourless Chocolate Cake which I made last week. Here is the link to it: http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=1807.0

Its very much like a rich jaffa cake, and has the added bonus of being gluten free. It was devoured when I gave it to my mum to take to work!!!
