This was really nice -I  made it with the suggested garlic cloves and onion as I don't have FFS (sob) and it worked out beautifully.  So easy to make and I had all the ingredients on hand. Thanks Judy, this is going in my favourites!

Made this today, was quite yummy but too salty and that's my own fault.

I used chicken stock powder/paste from elsewhere on the forum (i think this one, been a while since i made it) and used the same quantity, i.e 3 tablespoons (6 dessertspoons), as "3 tblspns Tenina's chicken stock powder - from FFS ".

What sort of quantity do you think I should have used?

Rob the stock recipe you used is very salty so 3 level tspns of it in that recipe should have been enough and perhaps also leave out the 1.5 tspn salt I have listed in the ingredients.  Start low as you can always add more when you do the taste test.  Tenina's stock powder is completely different which is why you need more but as JulieO said, 2 tblspns was enough for her taste so if you use this next time, start lower with that as well.

Just a slight salt difference there then. Oops.

So plan for tomorrow: make more soup :)

Thanks Judy.

Regarding taste test, my palette isn't refined enough to taste something and think "oh that needs just a dash of pepper and a pinch more of salt". I'm in envy of people that can!

Made a full size batch on Thursday.
DH even had seconds.

Only added 250mls milk, maybe my super cheap tins are runnier?

Still excellent.
Cost £1.05p for at least six portions, maybe more!

I made this today and it's excellent! Thank you so much  :) .

I used 3 tsp chicken stock concentrate and left out the salt and since we eat it with grated cheese and cracked black pepper, it doesn't need any further seasoning :) .

I haven't tried this yet. Maybe soon as an iced soup. I rather like those.

Really, really, really, REALLY good soup

... Was the verdict from my husband.
Youngest DD gave it a 5/5.
Other DD gave it a 2/5 - but got upset when I took her bowl away... And promptly finished it off upon return!!

Thank you!!!
Regards
Gillian

Oops
PS I used just garlic cloves and onion. I substituted 680g passata for one of the tomato cans & water. I used two big blobs of EDC vege paste, and used some leftover sour cream with skimmed milk at the end.
