First day of Chinese New Year today. We usher in the year of the horse this time. Big celebration if we were back in Malaysia. Smaller scale here but we still try to give the kids a sense of the traditions.
Hosting a potluck party tomorrow. Should be fun ... but stressed at the moment. Still lots to be done, and the house is in a mess. At least the reno equipment and materials have been put away :)

Happy New Year BZB and family.  My DS and family celebrate and go to China Town in  Melb.  The kids love it.  Some nice recipes in the Age today.  Think some suitable for TMX.

Happy New Year BZB. I work with a lot of Mongolians and they are also celebrating their Tsagaan Sar over the next few days which is their New Year, I love hearing about the traditions and how the different cultures celebrate.

I love the Chinese New Year celebrations and traditions, Australians don't seem to have too many traditions. Happy New Year BZB.

Thank you, girls xx

We've had to adapt or forego some of the traditions. One that is still kept going is the giving of red packets to symbolise good luck. The kids love it :)
