Enjoy your break by the seaside Chookie and Ral.

Weather conditions are a little better for the poor firefighters today.

A house was lost in a suburb south of us with the lightening fire yesterday. From the aerial view it looks to be the home of someone I used to work with. I do hope not. I had only been to the home once but the roof colour and lay out of the stables etc look like it. Nasty.

Chookie I love Barwon Heads, been there to look around and eat at Cafes several times. I guess the fires recently were further south from there?
Yes hopefully fires will be under control some time today with better conditions. My sister lives in Australind where one of the evacuation centres is, they were put on alert watch yesterday, but have since been given the all clear.
son in laws mum still has no word on getting back to her home at Preston Bch, we think the hones there have been saved, but with no access road in, the residents are not able to go home yet. Fingers crossed.

Definitely fingers crossed Katj. I heard that they were dropping food and water into the people that we trapped at Preston.

Fingers crossed for your SIL family Katj.
Did anyone see the bake relief for the fire victims on Facebook I'm going to do some baking after the weekend and hopefully a bit cooler. Here's the link
https://www.facebook.com/bakedreliefwa/?fref=ts

Finished decorating the cupcakes, with the aircon on flat out. I have gold glitter everywhere lol. Had a bit of trouble putting the gold sugar pearls on ( hand didn't want to cooperate) I used a new butter cream recipe which uses  Copha I'll share the recipe later if anyone wants it.
I child-proofed my house, but they still get in!

Great display Jenny, you've done a wonderful job.

Sorry Chookie, didn't see your post re Barwon Heads.  Have a great time with the kidlets, a sea change will be nice for you all.  Get those cossies on and join the kids in the water.

Wonderful job on the cupcakes Jen, they look terrific.

Enjoy your holiday Chookie & Ral.

Well it's been a week and all we've spent of the $21 budget we gave ourselves is $8.38 on milk.  I will need to go to the shops tomorrow to buy milk and vegies, but that's all I plan on buying.  I've made a menu plan for the week, using things from the freezer, fridge and pantry.  The freezer clean out is working, as after this week I could see a couple of gaps in the main freezer (but I baked 2 loafs of bread today, sliced them and froze them - so the gaps are now full!).

Lovely cupcakes Jen. I'd love the new buttercream recipe please. Have heard Copa makes it more stable in hot weather. Enjoy Barwon heads chookie. The weather has been perfect down this way this past week.  Thinking of everyone in WA re fires. Good to see lorne and surrounding areas getting back to normal too.  Pier to pub was held today with a good turn out.
