Chookie that is beautiful. It looks so relaxing.

No one has claimed Bird as yet. DH has built him a little home, but he doesn't like being in there. He would rather be outside leaving little deposits every where which is starting to annoy me.

I can imagine the mess of the 'deposits' Cookie - even he / she / it is a very loving bird, the mess would be off-putting.

Have you tried the RSPCA or local vets to see if they know of any lost galahs in the area.

Yes we have rung and left our details with all the local vets Marina. I hadn't thought of the RSPCA, I will give them a call.

Yup. Had a lovely time. Surgery next week. Then up the road to Palm Cove in Decfor a few days R & R at a POSH hotel. The"WET" has started here!

Very warm here, not sure I like it.
There is a new very expensive ( $800 + ) book on all things relating to baking bread. It is reviewed in the Melbourne Age newspaper. Of the points mentioned in the review , I agreed with all except one. The one I didn’t agree with related to the age of the starter used in SD. They state that there is no difference between a new and old starter. Having experimented with both over 40 years, I think there is definitely a flavour difference with an older starter. Both work equally well but the difference is in the flavour.
Has anyone got an opinion on this. ?

Good morning everyone. The hot days are starting today so I’ve been out early and planted some herbs I bought yesterday. Painter is pressing on, I also bought a new range-hood yesterday which he will fit for me at some stage.
Chookie with your experience in sour dough making you would definately notice the difference.  Logically thinking, surely something that has matured would taste better than the new kid on the block.

Chookie people that cheat a bit with SD always say the flavour improves as it becomes older. I guess you noticed a difference with your Cherokee and Invermay starters.
I don't think I would pay that much for a bread book, not unless I won lotto. Perhaps the library can get t for me!! Although the libraries here are cutting services back because of lack of money.

Councils have closed many libraries in our area Cookie. Local people have saved them by running the library with volunteers.
