I still haven't figured out why they're called baby showers. There's usually only one baby so it's not like its "showering" babies. And as far as I know you don't actually give the baby a shower at baby showers.

Would someone like to enlighten me, or is it not worth it? :-))

In some countries, a baby shower is a way to celebrate the pending or recent birth of a child by presenting gifts to the parents at a party. The term "shower" is often assumed to mean that the expectant mother is "showered" with gifts.
