Good morning everyone, had a nice sleep in this morning.

Good luck today Robyn and Julie, perhaps the onion did do the trick  :D  A bit like the rubbing your feet with Vicks to stop coughing. Some old fashioned remedies do work.  If I have heartburn I mix a tsp bi-carb in a glass of water, always have bi-carb in the house but not always antacid tablets and since I found this relieves it, I don't buy over the counter medicines anymore.

MJ, I know where your doctor is coming from, we must drive them crazy telling them what we think we have ;D  However, we know when something is not right with our bodies.

Thanks Judy, will try and remember the bicarb trick if I ever need it.  ;D

I've had a really good day so far.  DH took me down the beach at lunch time and we did our usual 3.5km walk that I've not done for 2 weeks.  :o
It was such a lovely day, the breeze was cool but the sun was warm and shining, we even saw a lone dolphin nearby.  It was so good to do it again and I felt so much better when I got home after the fresh air.  Thought I may have had to slow down but I was able to do my usual pace.  ;D

When I got home, I made jerk salmon fillet on the top rack of my Turbo oven and some cubed pumpkin on the low rack.  Served with mash and peas I thoroughly enjoyed it after only eating bits and bobs for the last 2 weeks.  I feel like I've turned that corner.  :D

Today started no better than yesterday. Has not time yesterday to make Chookie's Gentlemen's Relish so started at 0600. First  I found my 250 gms Apple cider vinegar had turned into 100 mls of Malt vinegar. Then not enough tomatoes sauce so open from the fridge an upside down bottle of tomato paste  very bad move. It exploded all over the place. My kitchen living area looked like a crime scene. Ceilings, walls, sinks , floors, hair, phone, iPad, everywhere sricky deep red tomato paste.

Yesterday the washing machine with a full load died noisly with diarrohea of suds. A few weeks ago my boiling water tap died. $650. Last week the garbage disposal died, $250 and now the washing machine. $820.  All that plus plumber which thankfull is covered by Home assist. Took me 5 minutes to run into the Good Guys  bought a machine off the floor to be delivered this arvo. Funny that  though. There was a girl and her mother hemming and hawing over the same machine which turned out to be the last one. I heard  the sales person saying that to another so I just went and plonked my card down and it was MINE!  I was in no mood to be told I would have to wait 3 weeks for a delivery.

After I finish chookies relish I am making a soy reduction .

Go back to bed Gert, it'll be safer in there.  What a horror week you've had :'(  I hope you've had your share of bad luck and things start to improve.  :-* :-*

Yeah I could have gone on a trip to Bali with Uni for what I have spent.

Yesterday  girlfriend in Sydney who is supposed to visit in a couple of weeks broke her ankle and is in hospital.

The good news is that I did manage chookie's carrot and citrus jam. Yum.

Better news is that DH has gone out for the morning.

Gert, I know how you're feeling with everything breaking down.

With me, it's everything leaking. In our house here, the ceiling is leaking in three places, my workshop ceiling is also leaking, my water filter is leaking, the Albany house has a ceiling leak, the dishwasher draining hose is leaking and to top it all off, the fridge is leaking!!!

A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.
