Today I've been packing, walking the dog, tidying the house for the housesitter and trying to contain kids' excitement! Leaving in a few hours for our palm cove holiday, and the weather here is grim so happy to be going up north. Also excited about meeting Gert who has very kindly offered to drive us from Cairns airport to palm cove. Got your chauffeur's hat on Gert?

What deedub doesn't know it that is is very hot and sunny here andI have just taken a loaf of bread out of the oven for her. I think the oven was too hot as it is hard on top put she can probably salvage the rest for a bit of bread and a beer assed chicken for dinner tonight. She won't want to be foraging for food after her long trip with her girls
He he she won't know until I pick her up at the airport.

Gert, what a wonderful gesture. I'm sure it will be so much appreciated by deedub and the children.
Denise and I have been out doing various things today, shopping for food items she cannot get in the UK, visited Mum and caught up with Robyn when visiting Geoff, went onto the farmers market in the Port then stopped off at the Birkenhead Tavern on the Port River for a quiet coffee before returning home. CC is now packing, I wonder if she will fit everything into her case
Gert I have posted off your knife and had a quick look at the Kribbitt you so kindly gave me in Adelaide. I'm going to wait until everything settles down here and I can watch the video to work out how to do it. My brain is still so tired from the past week and be blowed if I know where to start. Plenty of time to work it out once Denise has gone and I have more time on my hands.

Just paying forward all the kindness bestowed on me by all you gals in Adelaide.
Thanks for posting the knife Judy. I really need a bread knife. No more hacking.
You look after him obbie.

Happy to report that Gert found us with no problems, and gave us a quick tour of palm cove as well as pointing out places of interest along the way from Cairns. Very excited about the beer ass chicken! I brought food on the plane but couldn't resist nibbling on a piece just now - delicious (as are the strawbs you also brought)! Bread smells gorgeous looking forward to having some for Brekkie and of course chicken sandwiches.
Thanks again Gert, so nice to have a friendly face come & greet you when you're in a strange city, and bearing yummy gifts to boot!
And it's soooo warm! Happy dance!
