Lovely welcome for the children Karen.

I'm in the same boat CP but I'm quite liking this phase of my life. Of course my children don't live interstate like yours and drop in frequently. I love MKR just finished watching it, up for a chat anytime.  :D

It was indeed a beautiful, long stemmed rose Karen and it is a lovely thing your school does.  Thank goodness there was a change come through in time to make the day far easier on everyone - imagine if they had started school yesterday on what was our hottest February day on record.  I hope DS enjoys his new school, it must be fun joining Big Brother finally.

Karen that is so lovely and very touching.

CP it must be horrid. Is your phone bill large or are you like us and have a free hour?

Karen lovely idea and a great photo of your DS and his rose.

CP, i'm dreading the day mine move out. it all happens so quickly. We are enjoying being able to go out more and to restaurants etc that we couldn't go to when they were younger but dreading them not being here at least a few nights each week. DD has been messaging me constantly (including 2am) from Cambodia so for all her independence she still wants us invloved.

No the phone bill is not large as I increased the plan but they tend to call me first  ;D I'm enjoying jumping on a plane and going east to visit them every so often. Thanks for your offers girls of a chat about MKR but no one wants me calling them at 11:30pm at night  ;D ;D ;D (BTW its going to be riveting tonight with those Perth girls doomed for failure and a backlashing).  I've got a plane load of visitors on Friday as DD2 is bringing 5 friends over for a holiday and she said that I'm quite welcome to cook whatever I like for them - maybe even some meals to take with them (yeh we'll see)  :D They will stay for a couple of days here, then go to Rotto, then go to Gracetown etc so I'm really looking forward to that. DH has just flown out this morning so that's when you really notice the void, however the cat, dog and work keep me busy...and this forum

CP we've reached that stage too. The boomerangs have suddenly gone and DH is now working full time mon to fri with long days. It has all happened very quickly and I am slightly stunned by it all. Lunch for 1 every day is rather a shock. DD will be home on Friday for one last night. The young have been and gone and come back several times before but I think they will only be back as occasional visitors.  >:(
Of course I have 42 animals to feed every day, so I am not entirely on my own! They are not good at conversation unless it is to demand their food be delivered forthwith and quickly.... And in the deep mud nothing is quick.

I have a funny story. We have some green tops in the garden, from turnips that didn't grow flesh. We pick some most days for the cow. I had a full bucket of tops over my arm and in my hand two empty compostable bags. Their contents were on the heap, and they were on way to bin. The cow snatched a bag out of my hand, presumably thinking it was a turnip top. I dropped the bucket and tried to get the bag from her. She tossed her head away from me and I couldn't reach. She is like a Hoover and I had no chance. A few chomps and it was gone... They are biodegradable and made from starch so we are not too worried about her. We think the digestive system will biodegrade it very quick... At least I hope so. I shall be more careful next time.... Will report when nature has done what cows do best.

Today I fetched woodstain, paint and electrical parts, managed an hours gardening with a friend and popped to whole food store. Then cleaned up after extractor fan been put in bathroom. If wet tomorrow (forecast) will paint bathroom. If dry will garden. Also have to get new tyres for Dh's car, it was serviced today and he is using mine.
