The fire is still not under control, but  the wind is blowing it in the opposite direction to us.   Our house will be in more danger this afternoon when the cool change comes and the wind changes direction - will blow it right towards us if it is not controlled by then.

Apparently it was deliberately lit this morning  >:( >:( >:(

Thanks everyone for your good wishes.  It came as a bit of a shock - but I suppose I should expect it living where we do  :-))

I heard the winds were blowing south at the moment so figured that was a good thing, are you still going though Karen or will you hang around a bit longer?

Thanks for all your good wishes!  The CFS have done a wonderful job and the fire is contained.  A huge relief.  Makes you realise what is important in life when you have to throw stuff into a car.  Im sorry to say that poor TMX didn't get chucked into the car - I figured that if worst came to worst, I could buy a new one  :-))

great news Karen...if anything, it's a good practice run to test out your fire plan...or to plan one.
last year was an eye opener for me when we thought we had to evacuate...we packed little possessions, focus was on just us & the animals.
