Mab, I read with interest your post.
Several week back we had to buy and plant a new post box as the postie couldn’t reach our old box from his car. He refused to deliver any mail until we put a new box in.  He couldn’t reach the the old box because we put security gates on which prevented him from pulling up the drive , one yard, and leaning out and popping the letter in.
Many other people in our area are having same problem.
We are still getting mail for the previous owners.

Give him some jam Chookie and he may become more accommodating!

Chookie, after 5 years we are still getting mail for the previous owners and the ones before them :-)) :-))  I returned one letter and wrote on the envelope that these people no longer lived here.  Three days later I received another letter from the same place so I opened this one and they were thanking me for advising them of the change of address.  I didn't give them any address as I don't know them or where they live.  It makes you think about the stupidity of some businesses and how they survive.

I was going to respond to the comments re. postal service, but I won't say anything except that, if we ran our business as the postal service runs theirs, we would have been out of business years ago.

Had the electrician in today to replace some light switches. Gave him some crumpets and Quince Jelly because he had gone to so much trouble to get the correct ones. I’m sure he didn’t charge us enough. This was not the intention.

Electricians are so expensive these days.  One charged me $50 to change a globe in an overhead fan, I would have done it myself if I could have opened the darn thing.

Judy it seems that a tradie charges $40 for a house call.  The time they spend and bits that they supply are extra.  We paid $150 for 3 visits, 2 special switches from interstate, a transformer.  Time altogether probably 2 1/2 hours.
Still cleaning out fridge drawers. Cooking.

This morning we went way over the other side of the city to  look at an EJ Holden. It was a heap of junk really. I think I have convinced DH that we should spend a little bit more and get something nice-if one comes up. ;D ;D
This afternoon was the ironing.

Yesterday I took GS shopping. His Great Aunt and Uncle sent him some birthday money and of course he wanted to spend it. LOL. I suggested that he save it to spend on a holiday in August but that didn't go down too well.
Today we took GS to Tring College Lake Nature Reserve. . A friend suggested it and we were very impressed. I packed a picnic to eat. It was great to eat outdoor in the sunshine. Something we don't do often in the UK.

Looks interesting CC.  Good for city kids to see the great out doors.
Today we are going to try and locate a female Native Pepper tree. We have a male one but to get the berries we need a female. Both the leaves and berries are peppery.

What a lovely day out Denise, for little London dwellers like GS this experience would be wonderful and you were blessed with perfect weather to top off the day.
Good luck with your search today Chookie, it sounds as if it is going to be a difficult task.

Judy, got the tree. Last one.
Bought some snow pea seedlings.  Once producing they will provide lots of peas for weeks.

CC that park looks wonderful. No wonder you all enjoyed it.
DD and I did our usual Saturday of going out and having a coffee. It was pouring when we left and after waiting for 20 minutes we gave up and ran. We got drenched. This sort of thing doesn’t happen in WA very often.
