That was one of the problems we had Chookie. DH said it was because I was always wiping it down!!

DS and I have been doing a puzzle yesterday and today , such concentration .
Well I think too big a week for me , DD and DS both had MRIs of their knee . DS report came back Sunday arvo , best and busiest GP , all OK . DD was not so great a subc.. fracture of the tibia and fibula, think this is a surface fracture, I feel sick with worry - but I know that once we have seen. The surgeon and follow their recommendation all will be ok . No surgery is needed . This is from her hockey injury a few weeks. ago . Think we topped Friday as the busiest day GP at 7.15 then to be told need MRI and that the earliest appointment  was 6.15 pm ! We got in mid arvo . Dentist mid morning- DS had 2 molars out , my crown repaired, DD Braces bands changed and a bracket lowered , to funny all 3 of us in different rooms . We fitted in Rebel sports sore to get a Surf fins for DD , cricket bat gloves and helmet and bag . Stopped by and saw DM .

Phew again Katie.  I hope all the problems work out OK but we Mums can’t help but worry ourselves sick when our children have problems and that doesn’t mean we stop worrying even if they are adults with children of their own.

K Atie.  I feel for you.  So much happening. As Judy said,  we never stop worrying about our children.
Yesterday we bought 20 bales of Sugar Cane Mulch. We have found that although expensive,  the birds don’t scratch it out and the wind also doesn’t blow it around. It also stops most of the weeds from growing.

K Atie - I thought you were meant to be slowing down and taking it easy?  How on earth do you keep up with everything?

K Atie, I'm sending you some hugs, I think you need them.  I hope your life settles down soon

GD turned 10 yesterday and we had a family party here.  Food request was sausage rolls, fairy bread, cake and M&M's.  Nanna obliged with a few extras.  The kids all enjoyed themselves.
The  man who said it can't be done should not interupt the woman doing it.

Mab,  that is terrific.  Typical kid food.  Just saw a cute recipe for kids parties made from mini hot dogs.  Will try it with the kids tomorrow and if successful will post.

You are all so kind , I was feeling rather flat thank you . DS and I nearly finished our puzzle , that was my reading time . Picked up DD from Silver Camp and we went out for dinner together which was great as I had a detailed recap of it . No IRB ( rubber rescue boat) as not ok for her knee , she was good about it but will be hard to get it over summer , will see. Seeing surgeon next week ,Tuesday . He would of seen her this week but away , really hard to get into anyone at the moment. So a little shopping then ferry ride trip home , being on the water today will be beautiful.

Lovely day with gardeners  boys. Ral and gardener covered beds with Sugar cane mulch.
Had dinner with DD and said farewell to their Danish exchange student.
Today visitors for lunch, all prepared except the mashed potato, TMX.  Made Rum and Raisin Ice Cream for Pud. Man coming to measure up for fly screens
Tomorrow, day of rest.

I'm sneaking my day of almost rest today. I have to put some snail pellets around the garden, especially near my lemon tree as the snails are eating the skin. I may make a chocolate yeast loaf too. DH is stripping the new car ready to begin the restoration.
I need to make a start on my bookclub book too as I haven't read it yet.

Instead of using snail pellets, Cookie, have you tried putting out beer (in sunken traps or saucers) - apparently slugs and snails love it and go to their graves happy!  Another repellent is coffee grounds - I have heard two theories with these, it either gives them the equivalent of a heart attack or they cannot cross over the rough surface (I think wood ash has the same effect as well).

Marina, I didn’t have any luck with the beer traps. I think I might try the coffee as it is also good for the garden.   We are having a campaign of not using any poisons in the garden because of our bees. Ral mows regularly to stop the cape weed flowering.
