Ok, I'll take one on Friday as that is when we both have time to work it again.
It is a "two woman job" as we need one on the bike to pedal to move the cow and one on her horse to work it. We could have bought a basic automatic one from the States for a mere 3 grand...but finances don't quite stretch that far and we aren't cutting for sheep stations!
The things we girls do when we don't have real cows handy!!
I'm not too sure what you ladies are expecting to see with our cow! Might have to come up with a name for it too... ;D

Thanks Nikkit, looking forward to it.
Do you have to have your horses trained for cutting to sell them? Just wondering why you need to train them if you don't have any cows?

I went for a swim this morning, then work.

I went in this morning with a plan for the day in my head. Turned on my computer and went to make coffee. When I got back there was a pop up reminder form my calendar. I was due in Bruce Rock at 10:30, a 2 hour drive.

So much for my plans. I will have to make sure I set the reminder for 3 days before my Monday appointments from now on instead of the standard 24 hrs.

mcmich, no not training to sell. Training to compete.  We have about 10 or so competitions over the summer months here in the West, we don't compete over winter as the futurities and big competitions all happen in the East and we can't have comps at the same time.
So we are training to compete as our next comp is in a week and half and after not seeing cows for about 4 months it does take the boys some time to get back into the swing of things. We are just tuning them up, getting good stops and rollbacks and making them think.
I could not sell my spotty bottomed boy, we have come such a long way together in the last 3 or so years, more gravel roads than bitumen that's for sure!

Wow, that sounds like lots of fun Nik. The horses must enjoy it.
Do you do well in the comps?

It is fun mcmich, and no I do not do well - I am very bad at cutting!  I bought a horse who was bred for showing and he had never seen a cow in his life when I got him, he had never done anything more than a trot - so had a LOT to learn, so I really threw him in the deep end. I have never done anything like this before either. My attitude / idea I guess you might say, is to go out for the weekend with my horse, socialise with people and horses, play with a few cows, and if I can come out of the pen after 2 1/2 minutes with no sand in my knickers and a smile on my face - then I am a winner!
I did win the buckle for beginner 2 hand in 2010 here, so was thrilled to bits I can tell you.
And my hubby said "phwoar...can I be your buckle bunny?"!!!

I agree, I'm always hopeless at either finding out that people aren't well and need help or just thinking that others would be grateful for some food to be made, but if I ever get a call I'm more than happy to cook as much as is needed. Also, I'm often able to find time late at night to cook for others but because I work quite long days I struggle to be able to deliver the goods, maybe there are some people that are able to cook if you are able to just deliver on their behalf.

Good idea. Evan a roster might work.

I love cooking, its the one thing I really enjoy.

People would help Hally, if they were asked.

Yes Gert, some people are unsure of what to do or  say.
My Thermomix,  Kitchen Aid, Pizza oven, Nu Wave 5 in 1, Spatulas, all brings love, laughter, happiness, and great food  to my kitchen.
