I agree - sometimes it's just not knowing  . . .maybe suggest to a few friends you thought it would be good if you could pool efforts - maybe even cook together if you all have the same time free.  A good time to catch up and have some fun together. Takes menu planning to a whole new level!!!  But do encourage others to help too Hally . . .what you're doing is fantastic but I think in the long run it would be less stressful for you to have others pitch in. Good luck!!   I'm sure your friend and her family are just so thankful for this kind of support!!

Thank you.

You guys are so right. Her house was full of flowers which people sent to cheer her up, but not much help.

I have some contacts for some friends so will look into ths after her first chemo.

It is fun mcmich, and no I do not do well - I am very bad at cutting!  I bought a horse who was bred for showing and he had never seen a cow in his life when I got him, he had never done anything more than a trot - so had a LOT to learn, so I really threw him in the deep end. I have never done anything like this before either. My attitude / idea I guess you might say, is to go out for the weekend with my horse, socialise with people and horses, play with a few cows, and if I can come out of the pen after 2 1/2 minutes with no sand in my knickers and a smile on my face - then I am a winner!
I did win the buckle for beginner 2 hand in 2010 here, so was thrilled to bits I can tell you.
And my hubby said "phwoar...can I be your buckle bunny?"!!!

 ;D ;D ;D

I have to get off the forum. I am sitting here waiting to go into theatre, starving and reading about food. It was probably a bad idea.

Well I made it. Still a little groggy and a bit of pain in my arm but that is to be expected. Dr said my tendon was struck to the plate in my wrist which is why I had trouble bending my finger. Hopefully when the swelling goes down and with a bit of physio I should get full movement and strength back.

I won't have yo ask DW to open jars for me any more.

Good to hear Den :D Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery!
Hopefully DW won't be too disappointed that you no longer need her assistance to open jars lol :-))

Good news DD.
Hally, when my late partner was first diagnosed a good friend set up a roster online & notified all our friends about it.  It had things like meal drop offs, childcare (so I could visit him in hospital), shopping, cleaning & so forth. I think it really helped our friends as well as us because they all wanted to help but weren't sure how. Something to think about.
Today the housesitter came over for instructions & to pick up keys. Only 4 more sleeps & then we're off to Malaysia!
