What have you been doing today?

I feel for you all. We’ve had our Week of heat and today has been beautiful. I took advantage of it. It’s heating up to 39° again later in the week.

Well it was very warm today 37 but it may have got hotter . Tractor break downs , DH is flat out trying to get things repaired. DS has had some more time on the header , it’s like the best place to be cool as . Tonight we moved all back to main farm , but DS was driving his Ute with me and DH .. saw a snake cross the dirt road .. just near where DS had to go and close the lids of 6 field bins full of oats , it had gone the opposite direction . Not really looking forward to tomorrow, now going to be 43 !! Paddock ban at 10 am message out to cheat all livestock today not tomorrow as well . Fingers crossed all will be ok .

Like everyone , just trying to stay cool. Up early to water. No cooking. DS bought me a new printer and set it up. Smart machine. Probably smarter than me. !

Oh dear boys home 1-2 am I think then up at 6 to get the last of the paddock done . No breakfast either. I got up and have watered done loads of washing , including our bed linen, to then realised DH may come in very soon to sleep ! Quick remake of bed . More washing checked chooks . Moving my favourite orange sprinkler ( we call it the tractor sprinkler it goes along the hose .)

Well a very hot day followed by a dry thunderstorm last night .. today we have had a huge fire in the mountains and I’ve been stressed all afternoon. We are on watch but think now it’s going along the mountain so fingers crossed it will be ok . Not me I could have gone without the packing up my favourite things . Boys were not here this afternoon. Lots of fire trucks and yes the men were asked to go out to it . But now some of the teams are back .

I hate fires KAtie. Especially in the country.  They are so unforgiving.

Thinking of you and all country people in fire prone areas on hot days, KAtie. DD packed and ready to leave  because of Creswick  fire . Saved by wind change.

Thank you everyone . Let’s see what today brings. Chookie glad your DD is ok , the emotions run high when you start packing . But it’s all ok I think . Unfortunately during the year there is no clean up and this is what happens , especially with dry storms . The Creswick fire looked bad on the news .

The Creswick fire is still burning. Hot again on Friday. But it is the wind that is the main issue, once the fire gets going.
Lunch at the North Star hotel was good.

I did my grocery shopping this morning. I went early but it was still quite busy.

Had a very special day croissants and berries for late breakfast. Pies out to the paddock for lunch ! Then all went south the stupid people in charge of the Grampians fire did not take this morning’s opportunity to hit it with everything they had - perfect conditions all wind had settled down . They will be in mega trouble. Now it’s burning into the Grampians (away ) but the front is huge and if I could post you all a photo you would be jaw dropped . So GF and I decided that we would distract ourselves and make 200 odd sausage rolls for an up coming party ( freezing them ) . A nice G&T and then home to DS Cooked salmon for dinner with mango salsa . And decorated a pavlova with berries passion fruit peppermint crisp and whipped cream … yum . Men out harvesting the Lupins now . Thank full for my special day with a phone call from DD in Copenhagen as well . Cannot ask more than that .

Tonight the Grampians are a blaze of fire . The length of fire is enormous . The fire over the ridge is bad and the line of fire along the ridges is outlining the mountains . If the wind gets up during the night that will not be good and tomorrow that will be happening. It’s just ablaze with a red glow as well . Honestly how they are going to protect us I can’t image the is enough manpower to do that . No sleep for me . Thank fully DH is asleep . We were harvesting today and I was polite person again . This is going to be a very intense week .

I am pretty sure my neighbour and our CFA crew are over at the fires, K Atie, as well as all our CFAs in the local area.  They are great and a huge asset when the fire season starts up.  Hopefully everyone will be able to bring that blaze under control soon.

Katie, I feel for you. Very stressful time.
Last Gym today then afternoon tea with some Tai Chi friends.
 Yesterday, annual appointment with Diabetic nurse, who is also a neighbour. All good.
