KAtie, at least you and family are safe. Communicating is essential. Terrifying.

Katie, so sorry to read your news. At times like these we all know evacuation and the fact that you could lose property is a possibility.  I think we all must live in terror of it actually happening.  You were prepared and knew what to do and everyone is safe so that is the main thing.

Washing windows today and tidying up around the property.

Thank you for your support and reassurance, very much appreciated. This afternoon DH and I went to check on the sheep , yesterday we had no water and this also is for the livestock! So we moved mobs that hadn’t had water and set out a plan for the next . Short story no water or power up at the reservoir . This is huge for a lot of the districts . We have a tank or do of water but have not used it for years , so brought water to drink .

KAtie are you able to cart water if necessary?
DD had some weekend off so we went to the local Westfield. They weren’t busy at all. However there was little stock too. I wanted to buy some green grapes and couldn’t get any. I think I will be visiting my local Italian shop again. I was up there last Monday and their fruit from Manjimup is so nice.  A bit expensive but all local and it lasts.

We will set up some tanks for livestock. Us will use tank water , but not to drink . DH DS and I did a bit of observing the power people pulling down power wires and setting up news . We drove around the property to assess fence crop damage and realise how lucky we were .

K Atie, did you get most of your crops in?
Saw the helicopter photos on the news.  Devastating.

A busy day. DH and friend worked on the speedster all day, then later in the day we had friends drop round.

Just not prepared to harvest with graders and fire men dealing with smouldering trees etc . So please that we are now in yellow zone . Still on watch but . DS has gone away for NYE which is great , a well needed down time . DD is now in London , slight hiccup plane cancelled in Belgium so had an extra night there before getting to London . Today was make up DD bed , wash our sheets and more washing .

KAtie, pleased to hear that you had most of the harvest in.
Friend for lunch. We are having Xmas Pud with all the trimmings. The young ones don’t seem to like Xmas Pud but we do.
Last night we watched the fireworks. It was spectacular.

Supermarket shopping this morning.  The town was nice and quiet and no trouble finding a parking spot.

The boys are still working on the speedster. They got it going today and were hooning down the street.
I stayed in under an air con outlet. 😀😀

We are having a 3 day hot spell at the weekend. I’m trying to get everything done so I can stay inside.
My lovely Sri Lankan neighbours brought me a traditional rice dish to celebrate the new year. It was rice cooked in coconut milk with a fair bit of salt. It is eaten with either honey or a spicy chutney. I shared it with a friend who came for lunch.

NYE DH and I put out with the farm firetruck smouldering hot patch where a burnt tree was removed . I found another as well. Have to be very careful due to the ground can collapse around the area , not it was hot . A load of water on it fixed . Yesterday we caught up with some friends that were impacted with the fires , really it’s all devastating. How they managed is incredible. During the night DD rang from London airport , well I might have a very tired DD tomorrow.
